RISD Museum
Spring 2024
Identity
A speculative rebrand of the RISD Museum centered around the ethos of “Museum as Container”. The RISD Museum prides itself on its vast range of collections and exhibits, ranging from miniature Monet paintings to giant Japanese Buddha. Thus, to accommodate its vastly different collection, the RISD Museum remains in a constant state of change—it shifts, rearranges, and morphs itself around each exhibit, not just spatially but also philosophically. This refreshed identity system aims to capture both the look and spirit of a museum in flux.

Autos Grotesk
Ongoing
Typeface
Autos is a neo-grotesque inspired by the humanistic warmth of early grotesques such as Lapidar or Französische Grotesk and the awkward silliness of the latin characters found in Asian typefaces such as Oriya Sangam MN or Lantinghei. Autos is an typographic exploration of the semiotic and aesthetic idiosyncrasies of these context-based design oddities. The name Autos (working title) comes from the Greek word meaning ‘self’. This typeface is still being refined, and is a constant work in progress. Further weights, italics, and documentations are forthcoming.
This site is currently set in Autos :3

Meadow
Ongoing
Typeface
Meadow is a text-weight, low-contrast serif typeface, loosely inspired by Story of Your Life, a sci-fi short story by Ted Chiang about aliens, linguistics, and love. Its sturdy serifs and geometric brackets convey a sense of rigor, while its open counters give it a special kind of warmth. Meadow is named after “White Meadow” by Bladee and Ecco2k, a song I listened to a lot while drawing the typeface. This typeface is still being refined, and is a constant work in progress. Further weights, italics, and documentations are forthcoming.
